Fireworks Night for me is an exciting night for photographers. It can end up a little cliche, long shutter exposures and the simple coloured fireworks against the black night sky, but for I see it as a chance to experiment with my camera. It's not very often you have a nights sky filled with different colours and a raging fire to use to your advantage, as well as the element of unpredictability, using your camera and having genuinely no idea what the final image is going to be just makes it more exciting to be doing.
This year I went to the Hyde Park fireworks display, the obvious choice for Leeds students and residents, and using my compact Canon IXUS8015 and took a series of photographs I was seriously impressed that this tiny camera can take. here's a selection of the photos taken that night, more can be found at www.flickr.com/KatieSz

I really like these firework photos, the first one especially. Is it a tree silhouette? Looks really good against the fireworks, makes the pattern completely different!
ReplyDeleteYep it's a tree silhouette :) That damned tree was blocking my view for the whole night but still ended up making some pretty awesome photos.

The first picture is fantastic! It really looks like a cold november night. it almost looks like the firework in the background is the leaves on the tree.
