Jack Wills Christmas Handbook

The Christmas Handbook for British clothes store Jack Wills popped through my letterbox this week. Although I usually find myself  flicking through and deeming the clothes "way too expensive for what they are" within 10 seconds, something caught my eye this season.

Half of the handbook comprises of some very well shot fashion photography before the 'catalogue' of clothes begins (along with the extortionate prices, £798 for a limited edition dress of which I have a distinctly similar one that I got for around £35 in the French Connection sale last year...).

These photographs closely relate to the autumn/winter season of the clothing in the 'handbook' with most of the pictures shot in the dark and emphasising the idea of parties and celebration. I love the use of very vivid colour photography to emphasise the clothing against the background, the setting and emphasise the atmosphere of festivity. The photographs also kind of promote a lifestyle to the people who would buy their products: an exclusive, frivolous lifestyle which would appeal to any teenager. The photographs almost seem to document 'a day in the life of' the teens in these images who wear Jack Wills; inviting people to join this 'club' by wearing the right clothes. Although i don't condone the clone-like sentiment Jack Wills promote and attain, the photography draws you in in a very subtle and seductive way making me look through the booklet over and over, lusting over the clothes I can't afford, when usually it is only good for the bin.

  2. The phtographs seem very artistic but the clothes are still far to expensive for most people! I think that you really are just paying for the name.

saying that the black dress is well nice!

  5. You're very right about the prices though. I started 4 years ago with Jack Wills, and loved the clothes. Prices were much better back then. Still expensive, but buyable. Nowadays, I can't afford anything, and I have a full time job!

Loved the idea of Aubin & Wills as well, but again, prices have sky rocketed and it's all out of my reach.

lol, 32 years old, a full time job and I still can't afford it :)

  6. Do you REALLY want the clothes? I guess I just enjoy dressing like a bum. I'd rather spend my money on other things.

However, if you REALLY want the clothes from Aubin & Wills, and your too busy or already working - I suggest you get the free blueprint.

I spent 5 minutes making this blog, and I made $100 with it yesterday! http://www.givememoneyblogs.com - CLICK THE BROWN BOX wp mage!

  8. Im completely inlove with the last image in particular of the Jack Wills handbook. The way in which the teenagers appear to be in complete focus however the motion used to surround the sofa, using a long shutter speed in order to show to frequent motion, included with numerous of vibrant colours enables the image to pop out at the viewer!

    LOVE IT!
