A One Minute Film: Happiness

I have just finished my first endeavour into motion for a university module. The brief was to create a one minute film, not one second over or under, that includes opening and closing credits. I used a Sony Z7 to film Happiness, then Premiere Pro, Soundbooth and After Effects to do the editing.

The film is based on an alcoholic who seems to be more and more consumed by alcohol having sold everything he owns apart from a dining room chair, small table and old TV for beer. He becomes more and more engrossed in his solitary lifestyle, wishing only for more beer, his personal happiness.

Making the film really made me realise the effort and time that goes into getting an idea to a fully fledged film and opened my eyes to a new media and the difficulties it holds. Hopefully you like it.

  1. The video is really impressive! i really like the genie in the beer-bottle idea...twas a nice touch :)

also...that guy is well sexy, even if he is a drunk....I'm doing a short film myself actually and would love it if you could give me his number...He would be so perfect for the role!!!

It's called "The Man who was too sexy to live: Carry on Esbat"

  2. I know how difficult it is to construct a 1 minute film, and I have to say; you have done a terrific job.
You have captured the theme perfectly as well as making it visually interesting.

The slow fades work superbly as a representation of his life, and the sound portrays how empty his life is.

I hope your planning on making another!

  3. I think this one minute film is composed very well. I was particularly impressed with the lighting used throughout the motion picture.

I feel that the empty room surrounding the man was an extremely effective way of showing the emptiness within this mans life!

The sound was also very effective, luring me in to the film more again!

    Love it!
