Design Bites: Grafik Magazine.

Over the next couple of days I'm hopefully going to be updating my blog with a few 'design bites' from the last couple of weeks.

Today is Grafik magazine. A really good and high quality graphic design magazine, I've been a subscriber for just over a year now. I used to be really into it, it's printed onto the most beautiful, thick, stock and the layout is exceptional; it's been a real learning tool for me when I'm thinking about layout for my work and the newspaper. I keep them all on my bookshelf almost like reference books, not magazines.

Unfortunately, for the last part of 2009, I really lost interest, the illustrations and covers became, well, boring with no variety and so I lost interest in looking at the text beyond that. However, the last two issues I've received have been brilliant and really got back to the 'Grafik' style I fell in love with as a first year design student. This months issue has probably had the most reading and wear in a long time. The illustrations and cover made me actually read it, not just look at the images, and the main article on branding turned out to be, well, useful. Welcome back Grafik, I've missed you.

Some covers from the past 6 months:

And some spreads from this months magazine, brilliant design:
