Bye Bye Grafik Magazine

I was informed today that Grafik Magazines publisher has gone into liquidation and so the much loved magazine will not be published in the foreseeable future. This is my second year of subscribing to Grafik and I have always seen it as an inspirational magazine, I have looked to it when I'm running low on creative ideas, and have found some of the articles more than helpful (information design feature, in house design feature to name a few). It is possibly the best printed quality of a magazine I have ever seen with very thick high quality paper, immaculate printing, and exemplary layout and design within; it has often been confused as a book by friends. With so may magazines moving online I'm going to miss the tactile experience of reading magazines as they gradually fade away, especially Grafik. Staring at a screen (which being a graphic design is what I spend most of my time doing, as well as wrecking my eyesight even more) is not the same experience as leafing through high quality images and having the feel of paper in your hands. It might be RIP Grafik but I sincerely hope that some good quality creative magazines will last the test of the digital age.
